A woman will direct John Green’s most controversial female character in ‘Looking for Alaska’



Looking for Alaska has found a director — one who might be able to change the story’s two-dimensional “Manic Pixie Dream Girl” heroine into a three-dimensional character.

Bestselling author John Green revealed on Twitter Wednesday that Paramount’s long-in-the-works adaptation of his first novel is now in the hands of Rebecca Thomas, the self-described “writer/director/lady” behind the well-received 2012 indie flick Electrick Children.

As previously announced, 500 Days of Summer duo Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber are writing the new film’s screenplay — fitting, as the pair also scripted the adaptations of Green’s The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns. Read more…
